Question:
What makes your childbirth classes different?
Answer
Most hospital based childbirth education classes are designed to teach you the basics of labor and birth, discuss medical management of pain, and prepare you for hospital routines. Classes taught in a private setting usually add information on nonmedical pain management and making informed choices. My childbirth education classes take things a step further by examining God's design for pregnancy, labor and birth and by looking to His word for encouragement and support.
Question:
What if I'm not interested in a natural birth?
Answer
While I believe that giving birth with as few interventions as possible is best for both mother and baby, it is not my goal to persuade you to give birth in any particular manner. Rather, I aim to make you aware of your options and give you factual information so that you can make the choices that are best for your family.
Question:
I've already had childbirth classes before. How will your classes benefit me?
Answer
As I mentioned above, the focus of my childbirth education classes is probably different from those you have attended in the past. I believe they will give you a new perspective on pregnancy, labor and birth and will enhance your enjoyment of the experience, as well as offer a special opportunity for growth in your relationship with God.
Question:
Where are your classes held?
Answer
Currently I am teaching out of my home in south Denton. Private childbirth education classes can be taught at my home or yours. Other arrangements may be available; please feel free to contact me for more information.
Question:
How big are your classes?
Answer
Because of the more personal nature of my classes, I generally try to limit enrollment to 4-5 couples. This allows more individual attention, group interaction, and time for questions.
Question:
What method do you teach?
Answer
As a CAPPA certified childbirth educator, I am not bound to any particular "method" of instruction (e.g Bradley, Lamaze, etc.). I have developed my own curriculum by drawing from many sources of information and incorporating any tools I feel would be useful to expectant parents.
